Fort Detrick
Fort Detrick is a major driver of the Frederick economy. The post is Frederick’s largest employment campus with over 7,900 personnel, of which 6,600 are non-military. Fort Detrick’s three primary missions include human and botanical research and development, global telecommunications, and medical logistics management. The new National Interagency Biodefense Campus (NIBC) will expand at the Fort in 2008 and will include four on-site federal agencies and research facilities with a focus on Homeland Security Defense.
