Frederick is committed to supporting and growing green jobs - from the USDA-Certified organic products of Terressentials or the natural and green salon practices of Natural Fusion Hair Studio, to the biodiesel fuel R&D of Chesapeake Green Fuels , clean, green and sustainable will play an important role in Frederick's industry base over the next decade.

In support of growing and nurturing this emerging industry sector, FITCI - traditionally a bioscience and IT business incubator - has added the green industry as a new focus for the incubator program. Frederick Renewable/Sustainable Programs
Frederick County Office of Sustainability, created by the Frederick County Board of County Commissioners and tasked with bringing community partners together to focus on a sustainable future for Frederick.

Frederick County Commercial Recycling Program, provides area businesses with help establishing/expanding waste management programs.

Frederick County Economic Development Agriculture Programs like Home Grown Here and the Virtual Farmers' Market encourages residents to buy from local growers to support a growing green economy.

Focus Forward on Green: The Great Frederick Fair,  is a challenge to the Fairgrounds E-ventplex to become completely self-sustaining by 2012 as well as serve as a renewable energy demonstration center.

Maryland "Green" Programs
The State of Maryland supports several energy funding assistance programs to include tax credits and loan and grant programs. These are available for businesses and residents through the Maryland Energy Administration.
