Fort Detrick
Fort Detrick is a major driver of the Frederick economy. The post is Frederick’s largest employment campus with 9,200 personnel, of which 7,700 are non-military. Fort Detrick’s three primary missions include human and botanical research and development, global telecommunications, and medical logistics management. The new National Interagency Biodefense Campus (NIBC) expanded at the Fort in 2008 and includes four on-site federal agencies and research facilities with a focus on Homeland Security Defense.
