Fort Detrick

Fort Detrick is a United States Army Medical Command installation located in Frederick. The Fort’s primary missions include human and botanical research and development, global telecommunications, and medical logistics management.

Fort Detrick is home to five cabinet-level agencies: Department of Agriculture, Department of Defense, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Veteran Affairs. 

It is the largest employer in Frederick County.

Frederick Community College

Frederick Municipal Airport (FDK)

Frederick Municipal Airport is owned and operated by the City of Frederick. The facility is designated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a reliever airport for Baltimore/Washington International. With more than 80,000 aircraft operations annually, FDK is the third busiest airport in Maryland and the preferred executive airport in the National Capital Region.

Hood College is a private liberal arts college founded in Frederick, Maryland in 1893.
